What The Bible Says About The Remission Of Sins

In order to be saved from sins there MUST be a remission of sins. No remission of sins, no salvation.

Let us see what the Bible says about the remission of sins.

To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins, (Luke 1:77 NKJV)

This passage is about John the Baptist. One of John's purposes was to show people how to receive remission of sins by looking forward to Jesus.

2 As it is written in the Prophets: “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.” 3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’” 4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. (Mark 1:2-4 NKJV)

And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, (Luke 13:3 NKJV)

Notice the verses say John preached "a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins."

John, and Jesus, lived and died under the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses, if kept flawlessly, would provide salvation because it intended to keep one from sinning and if one didn't sin there was no need for remission of sins. Jesus was the only one to fully keep the law. There was no remission of sins in the law because Law was intended to keep one sinless. Any sin was a failure to keep the Law and the sins of the people were carried forward year by year. (Hebrews 10:1)

The baptism of John, looking forward and pointing, "paving the way," to Christ, remitted, removed sin. It was a saving remission of sins baptism in Old Testament time.

When Jesus rose from the dead he declared...

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:47 NKJV)

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16 NKJV)

In the Great Commission Jesus joins belief AND baptism for the remission of sins resulting in salvation.

We read of the beginning of the church in Acts 2 at Jerusalem where Peter tells those convicted of murdering the Messiah...

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38 NKJV)

To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” (Acts 10:43 NKJV)

Friends, if your religious guide tells you the so called "Sinner's Prayer" so popular today remits sin ask him or her to show you one place in scripture where anyone received remission of sins, salvation, by saying any form of the "Sinner's Prayer" after Jesus gave the Great Commission.

It isn't there.
